Hi.
I built a image file for AMB0010 Base with TE0955-01 SOM using TE0955-te0955-rd-vivado_2024.2-build_1_20250707150046.zip

Can I use that image file for TEB0955-02 Base with TE0955-01 SOM directly ?

Thanks a lot

Hi,
Thank you for your previous response confirming that the boot image built for the AMB0010 base board should work on the TEB0955-02 base board with the TE0955-01 SOM.

However, I am still facing a boot failure when using the exact same image on the TEB0955-02 setup.

To provide more details on the boot issue with the TEB0955-02 base board, I have tested different module combinations and found the following results:

AMB0010-01 Base Board: Both TE0955-01 and TE0955-02 SOMs boot up successfully with the image.
TEB0955-02 Base Board: Neither TE0955-01 nor TE0955-02 SOM boots up using the exact same image and setup.

Could you please provide further guidance or troubleshooting steps for this? Specifically, are there any differences in the hardware configuration (such as boot mode switch settings, or clock configurations) between the AMB0010 and TEB0955-02 that I might need to adjust for the TEB0955-02 board?

Thanks a lot

MA

Hi,

which configuration did you use?

For SD boot mode, please configure the TEB0955 as follows:

  • S3.1:ON
  • S3.2:OFF
  • S3.3:ON
  • S3.4:OFF

Then please try again.

Regarding the power supply, please use a 12 V / 2 A power supply if possible.

Hi.
Thank you for the prompt guidance.
I have configured the TEB0955 base board for SD boot mode as you instructed:
S3.1: ON
S3.2: OFF
S3.3: ON
S3.4: OFF
And I am using a 12V power supply also as recommended.
thanks

Hi.
The board still does not boot.
(Boot switch=1(on), 2(off), 3(on), 4(off) and 12V power supply are used)

When I power on the TEB0955-02 baseboard, the LEDs on the TE0955-02 SOM turn on briefly and then turn off immediately)
And nothing is displayed on Tera Term.

As a side note, regarding the AMB0010-01 baseboard, there are two TE0790-03 units, and I connected Tera Term to the TE0790-03 unit wired to UART-1.
Could this be related to the current boot failure on the TEB0955?

Or Could you please provide further guidance or troubleshooting steps for this.
Thanks.

Hi,
your statement '
As a side note, regarding the AMB0010-01 baseboard, there are two TE0790-03 units, and I connected Tera Term to the TE0790-03 unit wired to UART-1.' goes exactly in the right direction.
Currently it seems you don't have a boot failture (LEDs: red Done goes off and no Error LED lights up), you are only listing on the wrong terminal.
AMB0010 with the 'patches' for use with TE0955 module uses UART1 on J8. TEB0955 uses in standard configuration UART0 for FTDI USB to UART bridge.
So there are two options:
a) (Recommended) Recompile your design with different configuration/mapping: UART0 instead of UART1 for use with TEB0955.
b) Use UART1 on TEB0955 via not assembled pin header J14. Connect additional USB to UART converter to this pins. Please note UART1 pins are shared with CAN interface (standard use) on TEB0955 (Compare Schematic page 16). Therefore to make UART0 working without any interference with e.g. 'CAN Transmission Loopback' at least CAN_L, and CAN_H should be tied together or both pulled to GND (Add jumper at J28). This will set CAN_RX to a constant high state. Other option would be to disconnected by removing Transistors T1A/T1B or removing CAN Transceiver U21 completely!

Hope this helps understanding what is going on.
Best regards

Hi,
I tried to follow your support guide recommends (a):
"a) (Recommended) Recompile your design with different configuration/mapping: UART0 instead of UART1 for use with TEB0955."

However, when following this recommendation inside the provided Vivado project, the versal_cips_0 IP is locked by AMB0010-01 board presets and design constraints, making it impossible to select or configure UART0 directly through the GUI or standard property changes. (used Official reference design:TE0955-te0955-rd-vivado_2024.2)

Could you please confirm if downloading and using the latest 2025.2 TE0955 Reference Design with Linux example resolves this issue, or provide guidance/a Tcl script patch to properly compile the project for the TEB0955-02 carrier board using UART0?

Thanks.
