TE0950-03-EGBE21C – Not Detected by PC

Hello Trenz Electronic Team,
One of our end-user experiencing a problem with a TE0950-03-EGBE21C board.
Issue
The board powers on, but the USB JTAG/UART interface (Micro-USB port) is not detected by the PC.
Troubleshooting Performed


Measured the voltage on the five pins of the Micro-USB connector.

Maximum voltage observed was approximately 2.5 V.
Expected voltage was approximately 5 V.



Checked the FT2232H-related power rails.

The expected 3.3 V and 1.8 V supplies could not be measured around the FT2232H circuitry.



USB detection behavior.

When the board is simply powered and connected via USB, the PC shows no reaction.
However, while probing the Micro-USB connector with a multimeter, touching the second pin from the top causes the PC to react and an Unknown Device appears in Windows Device Manager.
Unfortunately, I did not record the exact Device Manager entry at that time.



LEDs

No LED activity is observed when only power and USB are connected.
I recall that when probing the first and second USB pins, one of the LEDs in the lower-left LED group briefly illuminated red.



Question
Could you advise whether this behavior indicates:

a failure of the FT2232H USB/JTAG circuitry,
a missing power rail related to the FT2232H,
or another known issue with the TE0950-03-EGBE21C?

Hi Takashi,

regarding measurements and expectations:

Micro USB J2:
Pin J2.1 is the VUSB an should be 5V, but this are 5V supplied from the host PC, FTDI and therefore J2 are configured as device. Further this voltage is not used on the TE0950 for anything. Meaning it doesn't matter if it is not available/supplied by host PC.
The other pins are Data, GND and ID. ID is floating for devices (TE0950) side and connected to GND on host PC. If you measure nothing there it is ok, if you expect something else it is very likely that it depends on your host PC.

What is the status of the 3 green LEDS near power plug: D8, D9, D10

All three should glow green.

Can you send us the Serial number of your TE0950-03 (number on white QR sticker).

How is the dip switch configuration of S4-1..4?
What do the Versal and Artix LEDs show?

I received the 2 photos from customer.(I don't know how to attached in here But I could explain)

1. LED photo.
12V on(Green light)
5V on (Green light)
3.3V FMC off (no light)

2. Toggle switch photo
Boot and Toggle is all left side(number side 1.2.3.4)


The customer later said, "I wasn't able to figure out the Versal LED and Artix LED, but basically, all the LEDs are off except for the two green 12V/5V indicator LEDs, which are lit."

Could you give some advice?

Dear Takashi,

Based on the symptoms you described, I think the board is damaged and requires inspection or repair.

Could you please ask the customer to send an email to support@trenz-electronic.de including the board serial number and a description of the issue?

Once we receive this information, we will be able to open an RMA case and proceed with the inspection.
