Title: External Clock for TE0715 Module
Post by: rouben_s on August 03, 2017, 06:14:25 PM
Hi there,

I am using the TE0715 modules on a custom board and I provide the MGTREFCLKs from a SI5338 frequency synthesizer on my board. When generating the clock I have several options for the output driver of the SI5338 and for other projects I have used the LVDS option. But when I use the 1.8V LVDS for this design, the voltage swing on the output is below 1V. The only way I get the full 1.8V is by choosing the 1.8V CMOS on both A and B outputs. I would like to know what is the proper driver (I/O) type that I have to specify to interface with the GTX tile of the TE0715.

Thanks,
Rouben

Hi,

LVDS should work. On  TE0715 Si5338 CLK2 is configured by default to 125MHz with LVDS output. Does this work?
