Title: Petalinux boot from the onboard emmc memory
Post by: AlexSan on October 08, 2025, 12:18:51 PM
Hello guys. I flashed the BOOt.Bin file created by petalinux on my qspi memory and i'm currenlty trying to boot the rootfs file system from the emmc memory, so that whatever changes i make are persistent.
I;ve managed to boot the rootfs from the sd card and copy those files to the emmc memory.
Then i used these command while on u-boot but got the following error.

# Set kernel boot arguments
setenv bootargs 'console=ttyPS0,115200 root=/dev/mmcblk1p1 rw rootwait earlyprintk'

# Set boot command to load kernel from eMMC
setenv bootcmd 'mmc dev 1; ext4load mmc 1:1 0x30000000 /boot/image.ub; bootm 0x30000000'

# Save U-Boot environment to flash
saveenv

QuoteSaving Environment to SPIFlash... zynq_qspi spi@e000d000: Invalid chip select 0:0 (err=-19) *** Warning - spi_flash_probe_bus_cs() failed, using default environment

any advice on how to boot from the emmc memory would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

which module are you referring to and what does mmcinfo say?

Best regards,

Hello AlexSan,
how did you set your device tree for QSPI flash? Did you add the same like we in our reference design?
&qspi {
    #address-cells = <1>;
    #size-cells = <0>;
    status = "okay";
    flash0: flash@0 {
        compatible = "jedec,spi-nor";
        reg = <0x0>;
        #address-cells = <1>;
        #size-cells = <1>;

        spi-rx-bus-width = <4>;
        spi-tx-bus-width = <4>;
        spi-max-frequency = <90000000>;
    };
};
