Title: JTAG issue TE0701-06 in petalinux
Post by: maxbad on December 09, 2024, 11:17:01 AM
Hi, im using TE0701 carrier board with a TE0720 module. Im trying to boot linux on the board via jtag and i get the following error when trying to boot:

"Cannot access DDR: the controller is held in reset"

Im new at this and cant tell what this error means. I have ENJTAG enabled in DIP switch S3 on carrier board, dont know if i have to modify anything else.

Im booting with hw-server command on the petalinux boot command as im using ubuntu on a VM and this way boot is faster than virtualizing USB to VM.

Any help would be useful, thanks in advance.

Hi maxbad,
did you try to simply boot from SD card to make sure your setup is working?
Download with configuration files:
https://shop.trenz-electronic.de/de/Download/?path=Trenz_Electronic/Modules_and_Module_Carriers/4x5/TE0720/Reference_Design/2023.2/test_board
Copy image.ub, boot.src and Boot.bin on SD card.
https://wiki.trenz-electronic.de/display/PD/TE0720+Test+Board#TE0720TestBoard-SD-Bootmode

DIP S3 is for CPLD access, you should switch that to "ON" if you want to access the FPGA. SD Bootmode should automatically be set when an sd card is inserted.
