Title: XADC SDR? Possible? YES!
Post by: Antti Lukats on May 08, 2016, 12:02:57 PM
https://wiki.trenz-electronic.de/display/PD/SDR+Demo

We will post this demo as reference project soon, but it may already be sufficient as is to start experiments with SDR processing on FPGA.

I think that Zynqberry MIC input XADC VP/VN is sufficient (maybe with external LNA and bandpass filter) to receive some radio stations or beacons in frequency band up to 400KHz or so. And if some one does not think that there is something to "hear" at so low frequencies, I can confirm that is not true, there is, and even without almost any antenna. I realized that by tuning SDR (not on Zynqberry) that used 14Bit ADC (and no LNA) to 134KHz and pushed tweazers into SMA connector. I did hear a beacon tone with exact 10s second interval. 18 cm Antenna at 134KHz and you hear a beacon?

The demo design does not provide the I and Q values to the PS, nor does it have control over the LO, but those are both easy to add functions.

Hi Antti,

your project is very interesting. Please can you publish the whole Vivado 2015.4 sourcecode - project? I try to repeat your idea many days on TE0723-02M without any success.

Best regards,

Viktor

sure.. we DO.. I did take mostly pavel demins projects, converted his IP into full normal vivado IP cores, and did some small thing, chaning the input of the real ADC, to XADC..

Hi Antti,

I am not in a hurry, but my knowlege is too small to such manipulations.

Thanks
