Title: XMOD FTDI JTAG vs Platform Cable USB II
Post by: joniengr on November 10, 2018, 11:13:49 AM
Hi,

Has someone tried XMOD FTDI JTAG Adapter (TE0790-02) to program ZYNQ Development Board ? Does it also provide JTAG debugging ? If yes then how it differ from Xilinx Platform Cable USB II ? I notice that TE0790-02 is four times cheaper then Xilinx Platform Cable USB II. Is there any other difference technically ?

Hi,
yes you can use XMOD(this one with Xilinx Licence) with Xilinx Tools and cores like VIO, ILA...

XMOD use FTDI for USB-JTAG translation, Xilinx Platform Cable USB II not, see:

XMOD use one FTDI channel for JTAG and one for UART and includes also a small CPLD, where you can change connector pinout, see:
XMOD is available with and without Xilinx licence. You need this one with Xilinx licence to use it with Xilinx tools.
