Title: Power TE0712
Post by: Acam on September 21, 2017, 03:10:52 PM
Hi!

Just a short question about powering the I/O banks from your own custom baseboard.

Can I power the I/O banks 13, 15, 16 safely with the TE0712 own 3.3V output (JM1 14, JM2 10&12)?
My earlier design had the same external 3.3V powering the I/O banks and the TE0712 (VIN + 3.3Vin). I was wondering if this would be a bad practice because then the I/O banks (13,15,16) would power up first when applying power to my system, and then after some delay from the TE0712 power supplies,  the rest of the system would power up.

Haven't noticed any defects on my current design though.

Kind regards,
Jonas Nyberg

Hi,
yes. own 3.3V out (TE0712 JM2-10 and JM2-12, see schematics) will be enabled, if internal core voltages are valid.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Just to make sure, the JM1-14 should also be available?
Just thinking because it would ease my PCB routing.

Hi,

in case of TE0712 Yes. Jm1-14 and JM3-91 are also the same 3.3V. But this is for this module only. If you change the module to another 4x5 series, you must check these 2 pins:

Thanks for your input John, I will modify my design a bit.
