Title: Programming the TE0890
Post by: shantzis62 on December 21, 2020, 07:49:17 AM
Greetings,
I'm considering moving my platform to the TE0890 platform. It's difficult to find out information about how one programs it, however. I see from the schematic that it uses "SPI Master" mode. I've found several xilinx documents such as this:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp1233-spi-config-ultrascale.pdf

and more importantly, this:

https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug470_7Series_Config.pdf

but what I'm missing is some basic understanding. Is it the case that the board is always configured through a JTAG interface? Also, I don't have any experience with this, but mostly through boards that already provide a USB through which to program, such as the TE0726 zynqberry. Do I do it similarly, though VIvado's hardware manager?

Thank you in advance for any help you may give on these basic questions.

I think I understand it a little better now. There is a set of FTDI pins on the board. Is it the case that I use my USB -> FTDI and program through that? I believe so. I think what confused me is that most FPGA boards I've played with come with an FTDI chip installed and this one does not.

If someone can just confirm that this is correct and that I understand it now, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you

Hi,
yes this board is without programmer. You must connect JTAG programmer on the JTAG Pins of the TE0890.
