Title: TE0720 FPGA module
Post by: sonic on July 18, 2018, 05:29:22 PM
Hello,

We are working on TE0720 with TE0703-05. We were trying to load firmware from this website

https://wiki.trenz-electronic.de/display/PD/TE0720+CPLD+Firmware.

This is what we got,
1. during Diamond programmer system detected USB-FTDI cable on two different port, 0 & 1.
2. initially we selected 0.
3. After that, We were able to run the program in FPGA from SD Card bootup. (DIP switches changed according)
4. We couldn't able to program using the USB cable.
Then,
5. We switched Port to 1 and reprogrammed CPLD.
6. Suddenly, Red LED on TE0720, I think D5 shuts off.
7. And We are not able to boot FPGA from SD card or from the USB cable.

Please advise us what can be the reason for this. Let me know if you need to measure something specific on board or have some more questions.

Best Regards

Update:

It looks like I am not getting 3.3V on M3.3V on jumpers J5, J8, J9, J10. I cannot get the TE0720's SC CPLD to enable 3.3V on the TE0720.

Hi,
at first, what was the reason to reprogram TE0720 CPLD?
Which firmware file did you used? Your own?
Which CPLD did you see as you reprogrammed the CPLD?

I'm working on a custom carrier board, But before reprogramming it, I tried to reprogram TE0703 cpld
I used firmware from Trenz, which is SC-PGM-TE703-02030405_CC0703S-02_20171013(CC703S_REV02).
During programming
CPLD: 1200HC from Lattice
Port name: FTUSB0

Hi,
so at first you has reprogrammed TE0703 with new TE0703 firmware with this instructions:
With SC-PGM-TE703-02030405_CC0703S-02_20171013(CC703S_REV02), following DIP settings on TE0703 are possible:Than you has reprogrammed TE0720 CPLD with this instructions:You has select correct TE0703 DIP settings for both reconfigurations? Because TE0703 and TE0720 has same Lattice FPGA, so on Diamond is no different detectable.
And it doesn't work again on the TE0703 or on your custom carrier or on both?

Yes, We programmed TE0703 firmware and That was our goal.
We are not planning to change firmware on TE0720.
DIP settings were S2-2 to OFF and S2-3 to ON position. (According to this link https://wiki.trenz-electronic.de/display/PD/TE0720+CPLD+Firmware)

We were planning to program only, TE0703 carrier board cpld, With this firmware{ SC-PGM-TE703-02030405_CC0703S-02_20171013(CC703S_REV02).}

Maybe it looks like we accidentally programmed TE0720 CPLD with wrong firmware.

Can you please guide me how to program TE0720 CPLD with the original firmware, and what is the DIP settings should I follow in order to program it.

Thanks!

Hi,
I'm afraid it is. Did you bough your TE0703 after some month 2017-10-13? If later, than this firmware was installed.
So TE0720 firmware is available on:
Program TE0720 CPLD with the Firmware description from TE0720 CPLD
and check, if 3.3V is available again.

No Actually, We bought TE0703 in early 2017.

And Which DIP settings do you want to set?

Should I set DIP settings to S2 ON and S3 ON? as this time it has to program on FPGA?

Thanks!

Done! It started working again!
Really Appreciate the help!  :)
