TE0600 no longer connects with GBit speed

Dear all,

I'm using the TE0600 Rev. 02 on a TE0603 baseboard.

We had a simple Webserver example running (from openCores), which only
has a GBit MAC. It worked fine.

After some time, i wanted to continue development and uploaded the previously
working bitstream. However, when i plugin the Ethernet cable, the PHY would only
negotiate 100 MBit/half duplex instead of the required GBit/full duplex.

We already tried:

- different Ethernet cables
- different PCs/Laptops (all with GBit NICs)
- uploading the bitstream after PHY linkup

... with no luck. I only get 100MBit/HD in all cases (not even FD).

When i force my NIC in the PC to do only GBit/FD, no link is established at all.

I uploaded the Trenz reference design "GigaBee_XPS14.2-Base". It links at 100 MBit/HD
but at least i can ping the board at the respective IP.

It seems to me, that for unknown reasons the PHY on our TE0600 does not like GBit anymore.
Does anyone have seen such behavior before?
Do you know a solution?

Thanks for the help.

BR,

Ralf

Hi,
please inspect the Jack on TE0603, your descriptions sounds like a one of the Ethernet lanes is missing.

Dear Thorsten,

thank you for the hint. I checked the RJ45 jack and as far as i can test it,
it seems to be ok (the magnetics inside make real testing difficult, but i checked
the DC-values at cable side and termination at board side). The signals
are also correctly connected to the B2B connector.

Maybe one or more RX/TX-lane(s) of the PHY itself are broken, but i don't see any reason
for that. The board was just lying in a cupboard from when it used to work until now.

If you or anyone else have other suggestions what to check, please let me know.

Thanks, BR,

Ralf

Dear Ralph,
then I have no further tip at the moment. You can sent the boards in for inspection.
