TE0802 - Wrong Description?
« on: January 15, 2020, 01:31:09 AM »
The FPGA XCZU2CG does not contain an GPU, but the Board does have DisplayPort. You may mean XCZU2EG instead.

Hi,

you are right. CG has only Dual APU and Dual RPU: https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/selection-guides/zynq-ultrascale-plus-product-selection-guide.pdf

For some modules and board we offer assembly options with different footprint compatible devices. Maybe it's a copy past mistake.

Can you tell me where you find this wrong description?
I can't find it on the product description and also not on the TRM at the moment:

Then look under "Key Features". Your Link points to the Site. Or use the Search Function. STRG-F "XCZU2CG"

Hi,
now I understand. You think Displayport is not possible because GPU is missing? I though you mean we wrote somewhere GPU
DP has on Interface and is realised with GTR on PS side, it's also possible on CG variants:
See:
https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/selection-guides/zynq-ultrascale-plus-product-selection-guide.pdf
page: 4

and https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug1085-zynq-ultrascale-trm.pdf

We have also 2018.3 reference design online where we have configured DP:

Oh OK, i didn't know that.

So is it possible to build a Linux with GUI like Gnome and run it on this Board? The GPU has then to be done in the PL Section or als pure Framebufferdevice?

Hi,
DP is connected directly to PS. All is handled by PS. You get more information from Xilinx TRM:
https://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug1085-zynq-ultrascale-trm.pdf

on our reference design DP shows linux console and when you add keyboard you can login. GUI is also possible, we sometimes provide demos for debian (not for this board at the moment)  but other linux distributions are also possible, see Xilinx documentation.

VGA connector of TE0802 is connected to PL, we add simple test screen example: https://wiki.trenz-electronic.de/display/PD/TE0802+Test+Board#TE0802TestBoard-SystemDesign-Vivado
