Q: Is it possible to query the GlobalTop Gms-u1LP module using the SPI interface instead of the UART interface?
No, it is not. Unfortunately the SPI port located on the GPS MT3329 chip is reserved only for the data logging function, therefore no customization would be possible.
The next generation of GlobalTop GPS chip though is very likely to support normal NMEA output over SPI.
