Q: What is the difference between the Digilent JTAG-USB Programming Cable and the Digilent JTAG-USB Full-Speed Module?

The Digilent JTAG-USB Programming Cable was built and sold in 2004 with the Cypress CY7C68013 USB microcontroller (the same that is on the Genesys, Atlys, and Nexys2 boards). It works with both Digilent Adept 1.x or 2.x.

A few years later, Digilent switched to an AVR solution (the Atmel AT90USB2, the same that is on the Basys2 board) to create the Digilent JTAG-USB Full-Speed Module. It is cheaper than the Digilent JTAG-USB Programming Cable and works with Digilent Adept 2.x.

Digilent intended the latter programming cable to be a replacement for the former. Although the burst speed on the former cable is faster, the average speed is similar.
